This episode of The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes (with a 23-year-old Jeremy Irons) is based on the story by Arthur Morrison (from The Dorrington Deed-Box, 1897; see also Clare Clarke's Clues article, "Horace Dorrington, Criminal-Detective").
