Early female detectives are featured this week on BBC Radio 4 Extra: Loveday Brooke in "The Redhill Sisterhood" by Catherine Louisa Pirkis, Anna Katharine Green's 1915 New York society detective Violet Strange in "The Golden Slipper," and Valeria Woodville in Wilkie Collins's "The Law and the Lady." Episodes can usually be heard online for up to week after broadcast.
