Happy birthday, Peter Robinson.
Transplanted Yorkshireman
Peter Robinson turns 58 today. The creator of Detective Chief Inspector
Alan Banks has amassed numerous awards, and his latest novel is
Friend of the Devil. (Also check out his fine collection
Not Safe After Dark and Other Works.)
In
Mystery Scene #71 (2001), Robinson gives a colorful account of how his first novel,
Gallows View, sold, which includes the marvelous line, "The receptionist [at Penguin Canada . . .] offered me some small change to go away."
