Recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Horror Writers Association, Chetwynd-Hayes wrote, among many other works, "Housebound" (adapted by Rod Serling as "Something in the Woodwork," Night Gallery, 1973), The Monster Club (1975; film 1980), and The Psychic Detective (1993). He died in 2001.
