Beinecke Library Rare Books and Manuscripts offers
The Book of Accidents: Designed for Young Children (1831). Amid the somewhat macabre advisories on unfortunate occurrences to the young ("Tossed by a Bull," "Falling Out of a Coach") are the still (and sadly) relevant ("Playing with Fire-Arms," "A Boy Drowning").
