In the film and TV journal
Scope, David Mann
examines some crime films of Hammer after World War II, including
The Man in Black (1949; adapt. of John Dickson Carr's radio series
Appointment with Fear),
Dr. Morelle: The Case of the Missing Heiress (1949),
Meet Simon Cherry (1949), and
A Case for PC 49 (1951). There's an unfortunate and distracting misspelling of noted producer Val Gielgud's surname throughout.

This stuff, along with Pirate movies, is stuff by Hammer that I've never seen available on legal video. Is any of it out now?
It appears that the films mentioned in this article are not yet released on DVD, although other Hammer crime-related films appear in various Hammer Film Noir collections:

I asked Hammer Films if there were any plans to release the crime films discussed. Its reply: "No definite plans as yet, though we do hope that the entire back-catalogue will be released in the future."
